Spirit Deer

The Pazyryk were nomadic people who lived in what nowadays is Siberia. This painting was inspired by the body art (tattoos) of these people. Deer were sacred animals in this culture. Their antlers were often depicted with birds' heads on all tines, to turn everyday deer into 'Spirit Deer'.
