In 2008/2009 our boys raised  £1200 for the HUMANITARIAN AID FUND of the organisation CHOICES IN VICTORIA, CANADA, supporting the global outreach work of our favourite superstar social worker Cheryl Fix. The boys appeared in our local newspaper The Gate Post! Some newspapers in Victoria, Canada ran the story as well. By personally giving the money to someone we trust who works closely with orphanages all over the world, we ensured that every penny reached children in need and no money went on admin fees. Even better: the patron heading the board of governers of Choices made a pledge to personally double whatever money the boys raised. This was an excellent incentive!!

Now it is time to move on and support a different cause. Our family was in Dominica in early January 2010 when the earth quake hit Haiti. All five of us now feel a personal connection to that part of the world and we want to encourage our boys to keep on reaching out to others in need as they grow older. We are looking for two charities to support: a humanitarian charity and an animal charity focussed on whales (see our webpage Project Song of the Whale : a family sets sail to meet and support the whales of our oceans).

ELLIOTT PAINTING A PORTRAIT OF MUM!

One morning in the year 2008 I woke up and was presented with a book! Quinn (8) and Brendan (4) had been up since 5am working hard on a 'manuscript' with the working title 'Parts of London'...

There are some great pages in that book, showing contemporary life in London through the eyes of three small children: the London Eye, a child snorkelling in the London Aquarium, a birthday party with the Snake Mbringing a Burmese python, the 436  'Bendy Bus' and New Cross Gate station at night!  A 'must have book' for anyone who loves London!

'Visitor Book' & Feedback!

 Quinn & Elliott  both donated some paintings to the CHOICES Art Auction in Victoria, 20 Nov 2008! Cheryl reports that CHOICES has already received phone calls from people wanting to buy more paintings by children!!
