Hallo Imelda, I enjoy yor website very much, especially the part on shamanism. Feels to mee like a kind of psychology
I am Editor/ Owner of a community newspaper in the South African  Overstrand Municipality in a small town Kleinmond between Cape Town and our whale capital Hermanus.
My simple question ius this, is there a possibility of using some of your work on spiritualy.  What should I do if possible?.  Meanwhile I will enjoy reading your stuff. Friendly regards fom the Cape and South Africa. Dries Vermeulen (When I saw that you are frome the Netherlands I was tempted to write to you in Afrikaans.)

A note of admiration: I perused your website yesterday; in particular, I studied the paintings and notes in your Inuit series. I also looked through some of the paintings in your other series. I simply want to commend you for honoring peoples of our earth who live in ways, or used to live in ways, that are natural and supernatural. I spend much of my free time learning about various cultural traditions, and I, too, derive artistic inspiration from the many ideas humans have generated throughout our history.

This year, I learned about the Inuits through a wonderful exhibit at the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh, PA, and it was with great pleasure that I found your Inuit series. Thank you for what you do.

"We like to think that the quality of art on our covers is matched by the quality of our poems". The Airlie Press, www.airliepress.org  (publishes books written by poets from the Willamette Valley region of the Pacific Northwest)

If "The Tree of Life" were the cover of my book, your name at least would become well known in this part of the country, among a highly discriminating group of art and poetry lovers. I would, naturally, be quite pleased to send you sample poems from "The Garden of Beasts," or indeed the entire manuscript. I appreciate very much your time, and your fine work.

In the fall of 2010 The 'Tree Of Life' painting from the Sacred Trees Series will appear on the cover of a book titled Garden of Beasts! It is a book by Anita Sullivan, a poet in Eugene, Oregon. This is her first full-length book of poems. Her website address is  www.seventhdragon.com.

Love the painting. I can hear the humpbacks. The whales are sharing their songs. Just open your hearts and hear their calling.

Food for contemplation it was - and probably will be many more =20 times! What an amazing picture! I simply had to stop and take my =20 time looking at it! There is so much in it, darkness but mostly =20 light, beauty and mystery, and a million other things, and all in =20 such vibrant colours! And the reference to the song gives me even =20 more to think about. Thank you for this Christmas offering, to you =20 and to Mr Salas, too!  Ursula Norman, Christmas 2008

Tack sa mycket foer din julhaelsning och den underbara malningen! ...ska aeven foersoeka fa tag pa Salas' musik - verkar spaennande!  Maria Rivington, London, December 2008

Last night I finally found some time to look at your web-site again, and to take in your new work and additions to your site.  As ever, the work is both delightful and impressive and the photos that accompany the paintings are a perfect fit. (I had to smile at your clarification that one of the photos was taken whilst journeying --- by plane). All that you write regarding shamanism is entirely sensible and we thank you for giving mention of our work.

Dear Imelda,

I know Simon has been in touch about the paintings but I wanted to add...

They are now up in Ashton Lodge, the main house here at the centre, and they are an utter delight to be around, offering as they do fountains of motherhood, and inspiration.  I LOVE THEM!!!!

Thank you for painting these, they truly are sacred gifts, so full of heart and authenticity.

Much warmth - lovely to have met you,

Oh, Imelda, this is BEAUTIFUL! MAGIC! SACRED! I love your writing and the pictures and the paintings! So powerful, your visions in and about Greenland! It all resonates within me! Am feeling blessed and honored being allowed to share your visions! When I came to the photo of the icebergs, I could "see" the life which you painted in "The Cathedral in Iceberg"!   Judith Bogner

We love the picture in Nimue's room. Of course the idea had been to wait until Christmas to hang it, but I am a big softie. Art is so great for kids!!

All the best, ALmuth

I haven't seen all of it yet but your web-site is fascinating! I particularly like your work done during the Art Therapy period...

As for the page on Quinn, Eliott and Brendan's work it is great! When I find where I can leave a comment I will do... Beautiful drawings! I have been very touched by the Art Brut, Abstract Expressionism and the Cobra group myself, as well as so called 'primitive art' as you guess...

In 1996 in Internet I found story about serpent called "GUJA".
Be so kind and explain me form which country or culture is this story about creation of the world.

Your website is stunning and your shaman work really inspirational. Wonderful stuff. Thank you your sharing this with me. I hope you are well and all is at peace with you.   Sarah Bennett

Hi Imelda. What a fantastic and beautiful and informative website. I looked at it whilst feeding Mario this evening and I'm so impressed. You've worked so hard. The images are fantastic - so clear. And the additional information is wonderful. I will be returning again and again to read about the background to your paintings and your inspiration. Like a 'private view' at home, except that the images, although good are a pale reflection of the real things! Very well done (from someone who knows how hard it is to set up a website!)  Jennifer Verlini, LONDON, June 2006

I am writing in regard to some additional information that I need for an art project. I have found Mrs. Almqvist work to be very interesting and would like to write about her for an art class I am currently taking. The problem is I am unable to find any books, magazines or other resources to support my paper other than the website? Where can I find more info on Imelda Almqvist? Please advise.

Thank You for your time, Katina Lewis

 Hello Imelda,
my midwife called round this afternoon with the pastel I did for her.  She had it framed before I could take a photo of it.  So, quickly took one this afternoon.  I thought you'd like to see it, you being the ultimate motherhood/parenthood, childhood/birth painter!
