Recently I created a page to feature the poems I wrote in the days before and after my father's sudden death. That brought back the habit of writing poems. The thought occurred that if there is page featuring poems about loss, death and letting go, this should be balanced by a page of poems about Living Life To The Full.

Conference of Angels

I will have you know

That I called a conference of angels today

They all flapped their wings

And we did a halo count

They said

The fact that you forget they exist

Doesn’t mean they don’t exist

You live, walk, breathe

In the space their wings create around you

My angels promised to help yours

In guarding you

(from yourself mostly)

They will speak to you

By leaving feathers on the beach

And putting words in the mouths of friends

By folding stories into

The clouds overhead

But I gave them your mobile number

Just in case

Here Be Dragons!

Dragonflies and

Dragons fly

In your dreamtime

Take you to the

Child

And mother

Growing inside you

Invite your dreams

To spread their wings

The mighty dragon inside

Sentry to your heart

Swats them away

Not yet, not yet

But even his wings

Grow

Every time he licks a rainbow

Dragonflies and

Dragons fly

In the space between

Dream and daydream

Traverse the eternity

that is waiting

and every sighting of a dragonfly

takes you closer to your dream!

Madonna

Lunch with a dear friend in May

At the next table

A heavily pregnant woman

Unknown to us

We talked of motherhood

The birth of a mother

And the things our children teach us

Lunch with the same dear friend

One death

And one month later

We speak of death

As a birth into the spirit realm

Of the birth

Of wisdom and compassion

Next to us

The same unknown woman

Nursing a newborn baby

Blue eyes, blue bonnet

Blue baby bliss

My friend and I smile

Reflecting on this gift

Blessed

My dear friend

At a London bus stop

Reflecting on the gifts

Breast cancer bestowed on her

Smiled at the world

A woman comes up to her

Says:

Have you found God?
Yes… says my friend

I have, I suppose!

I am so glad

Says the woman

As the Christian God

Is the only true God!

Says my friend:

I didn’t day I was a Christian…

There exist Gods

Outside your box!

To observe or not to observe

Quantum physics tells us

Our cosmos is an ocean of probabilities

Hovering in

Between and betwixt states

Of being partly one way

And partly another

Conway’s Free Will Theorem

Proves

Particles exercise free will

As much as we human beings

Researchers, observers

As nothing truly IS

Until it is observed

And the observer

Is part creator

Of the observed

Is this a clue

to our very existence?

Do we human beings

Exist

Thanks to

The Great Spirit

A bottle blonde

Called Eva

Meets the man of her dreams that year

At a party

So, what is his name?

I ask the next morning

While working in charcoal

On the eyes of a portrait

Why, Adam!

She sings

Obviously!
